The Conservatoire
Library and archives
“The inventory and the keeping of the charters were to make research easier.”
The Règles communes et particulières of Saint-Maur devoted a whole chapter to the keeping of charters. The Conservatoire is rebuilding, piece by piece, the documentary memory of a house whose archives were scattered in 1790.

The collections
- Digital charter collection: cartularies and documents on the abbey since its foundation, traced and digitised in national, departmental, diocesan and monastic archives.
- Plans and elevations: early plans of the buildings and their foundations, surveys, restoration schemes.
- Maurist image bank: images of the Congregation of Saint-Maur and its leading figures; engravings, old postcards, photographs of the abbey.
- Inventory of the archaeological remains on the site.

These collections are open to researchers on request. They grow with the work of the trainees and residents.
